Security Notes

  • Codes are generated locally in your browser by default and are not submitted to the server for calculation.
  • The page does not store your Secret in the URL, local storage, or cookies. Refreshing the page clears it.
  • Both the 2FA Secret and the current code are sensitive. Avoid using this tool on shared or public devices.
  • If you do not trust the current browser environment, do not enter a production account's 2FA Secret here.

Most services work with the default settings: SHA1, 6 digits, 30 seconds. If you paste an otpauth URI, the page will auto-detect the actual configuration.

FAQ

Does this tool support 2FA, TOTP, two-step verification, and otpauth URIs?

Yes. You can enter a Base32 Secret directly or paste an otpauth://totp/... URI from tools such as Google Authenticator and 1Password, and the page will parse it automatically.

Are two-step verification, two-factor authentication, and TOTP the same thing?

They are related but not identical. Two-step verification and two-factor authentication describe the login protection flow, while TOTP is one of the most common algorithms used to generate the actual verification code. This page focuses on generating that code from a Secret.

Does this page store my 2FA Secret?

No. The current implementation computes the code in browser memory only and does not write the Secret to local storage, cookies, or the URL.

Can this replace an authenticator app?

It is better suited for temporary verification, migration checks, and development/debugging, not as a long-term replacement for your authenticator app.
